How to Make a Luxurious Home Without Breaking the Bank
When you hear “luxury”, it’s easy to think expensive, but that doesn’t always need to be the case. Real luxury is actually found in the smaller details which add up to the overall look which is easily achievable even the most modest of budgets. Try out a few of our top tips and you might be pleasantly surprised.
- Have a good clear out
No rooms ever look their best if they’re untidy or messy. Make time to hoover and dust regularly and keep clutter to a minimum. Quick wins include clearing sofas, table tops and coffee tables to give the appearance of tidiness as soon as you walk in the room. A new paint can also be very amazing.
- Don’t forget the garage
Your garage needs just as much love as your house. By giving it a clear out, adding some cupboards and shelving and getting rid of the things you never use, you’ll create space which will make the area feel much bigger. You could even add value by installing some new side hinged garage doors to make your garage look like an extra room rather than just an add-on to your house.
- Get creative and customize
Adding your own little decorative touches to your furniture to give it a special, unique look. Why not have a go at changing over the handles on cabinets for more intricate ones, or add some trim, buttons or sequins to fabric. Brush up wooden furniture with a fresh coat of varnish or paint too.
- Freshen up with flowers
Freshly cut plants and flowers will instantly brighten up your home and look great everywhere from kitchens to living rooms to bedside tables. When you choose your flowers, it’s worth going for a particular colour scheme or for something longer lasting why not try some artificial ones.
- Big is beautiful
Nothing is more luxurious than large, fat cushions. If yours are looking a little tired, wash the cushion covers (check the washing instructions first) and go for a minimalist look by adding just three or four to your sofa.
- Add mirrors
Hanging larger mirrors to your wall will straight away open up your room and make it seem bigger and brighter. It’s a good idea to put your mirror directly across from the entrance to a room to give the impression of a more substantial space. You could even put a metal frame round a corkboard for a striking message board.
- Go light and bright
If you are planning to paint your room, go for very light colours like pale yellow and white. These colours not only make a room look bigger with more natural light, but they make it feel clean and fresh too.… Read More..
